
The pandemic is only beginning to hit countries with large populations like India, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Indonesia and Chile. The graph below show timelines of death for countries with >300 deaths with current surges in Asia, Africa and South America. Important to note that the common denominator for these countries is fragile health systems that are already overburdened.
The undeniable fact is countries that are getting on the worst side of the pandemic now had time to prepare. Question is, did they prepare enough to bring numbers down or take that memo on “rich countries are reopening” to heart too soon?
